State Level
- Aloha United Way will continue to advocate for state Earned Income Tax Credit which has been demonstrated to be the most effective and efficient way of assisting low income individuals.
RESULT: No action in 2009 Legislative Session.
- Aloha United Way will continue to advocate for controls on predatory lending as recommended by the State Auditor.
RESULT: No action in 2009 Legislative Session.
- Aloha United Way will participate in the Asset Building Task Force to consider children’s savings accounts, financial literacy training, and reducing asset building barriers caused by public benefit eligibility criteria. Aloha United Way has representation on their three working committees.
RESULT: The task force work continues with a goal to propose legislation in the 2010 session.
